Old stumps and brush piles take up space, trip mowers and keep you from using your property. Baxter’s grinds or pulls stumps and clears brush. Call (360) 503-0571 for a free estimate.

Grinding vs. pulling
- Grinding chews the stump down below the surface. It’s the tidier choice for lawns and landscaped yards. Roots are left in the ground to break down.
- Pulling uses an excavator to remove the stump and main roots. It’s the better choice when you’re building, putting in a driveway or regrading, since buried stumps rot and settle.
We bring a stump grinder for grinding jobs and an excavator for pulling.
Brush and debris
- Brush piles and slash left from old clearing or logging
- Blackberry, scotch broom and overgrowth along fences and field edges
- Storm debris and limbs
- Chipping, mulching or haul-off, depending on what you want
Fill and finish
After grinding or pulling, we can backfill the hole and rough-grade the area so it’s ready for topsoil and seed, landscaping or the next stage of construction.
Frequently asked questions
Should I grind or pull my stumps?
Grind for lawns and gardens. Pull if you’re building, paving or regrading over the spot, so there’s no rotting wood under your project.
What happens to the grindings?
We can leave them as mulch, spread them, or haul them off.
Can you remove stumps from an old clearing?
Yes. Old stumps and slash piles from past clearing or logging are a common job, especially before pasture or building work.
We also do excavation. Baxter’s also handles site prep, gravel driveways, grading, drainage and demolition. See baxterexcavation.com for our excavation services.
