Tree Removal in Anacortes, WA

Tree work on Fidalgo Island is its own kind of job: rocky ground, salt wind, steep waterfront lots and narrow streets that limit what equipment can get in. Call (360) 503-0571 for a free estimate.

Trees we see in Anacortes

Anacortes has a mix you don’t see much on the valley floor: Douglas-fir and western red cedar on deeper soil, Pacific madrone on dry rocky knobs and bluffs, and shore pine near the water. Madrone is a tree many owners want to keep, so we talk through pruning or partial removal before taking one down.

Terrain and access

Thin soil over bedrock means many island trees root shallowly and spread wide, which makes them more prone to tipping in wind. Tight shoreline streets and steep driveways often mean smaller equipment, more rigging and more trips to haul debris out.

Wind, snow and storms

Winter southerlies come in over Rosario Strait and the open water around the island with nothing to slow them down, and salt spray stresses exposed trees.

Tree services in Anacortes

Permits and regulated trees

Much of Anacortes is waterfront, and trees within shoreline jurisdiction (generally within 200 feet of the shoreline) and on marine bluffs can be regulated under the city’s Shoreline Master Program and critical areas rules. Properties next to the Anacortes Community Forest Lands also need care about boundaries. We’ll help you figure out what to confirm with the City of Anacortes before work starts.

Frequently asked questions

Can you remove trees for a view in Anacortes?

Possibly, but view work on waterfront or bluff properties is often regulated. Removing or heavily topping trees in a shoreline buffer may need city approval. We’ll look at the trees, explain options like selective limb removal, and tell you what to check with the city.

My lot is steep and the street is narrow. Can you still get in?

Usually. We size equipment to the site, use rigging to lower pieces where a tree can’t be dropped, and plan haul-out around the access you have. Expect access to be part of the price on tight island lots.

Do you work near the Anacortes Community Forest Lands?

Yes, on private property next to it. We stay on your side of the line and make sure debris doesn’t end up on public land. If the tree itself is on forest land, that’s the city’s call, not ours.
